International Event Center, Enugu
Enugu, Nigeria
Enugu is evolving; culturally, economically, and spatially, while the existing International Conference Centre anchors formal gatherings within the city core, there is an opportunity to create a new typology of destination venue: more expressive, more experiential, and positioned slightly outside the traditional urban centre.

The Brief
To position Enugu as a global destination city capable of hosting multiple large-scale events simultaneously. The project expands the city’s existing event infrastructure by introducing a second, future-facing venue; one that offers new spatial experiences, attracts international audiences, and elevates the perception of place.
Design Intent
"A landmark that signals arrival, identity, and possibility. The building is conceived as a sculptural form; fluid, continuous, and unmistakable; reflecting movement, gathering, and the energy of collective experience."
Spatial Planning
A dual-event system allows two major functions to operate independently yet cohesivelyfrom large-scale conferences to performances and exhibitions.
Arrival & Experience
A generous, open forecourt transitions into a double-height lobby that frames views, movement, and orientation from the moment of entry.
Climate Response
Deep overhangs, layered facades, and controlled openings reduce heat gain while maintaining visual openness and daylight access.
Materiality Strategy
Warm, tactile materials - timber, textured surfaces, and soft metallic tones - balance the scale of the architecture with human comfort.
Light & Volume
Large vertical openings and skylit volumes bring in diffused natural light, reducing reliance on artificial systems while enhancing spatial quality.
The Experience
Arrival is intentional. From the forecourt, the building rises as a continuous gesture; drawing people inward. Inside, space expands vertically, light filters through layered surfaces, and movement feels intuitive. Each space transitions fluidly into the next, creating a sequence of moments rather than a single destination.
Architecture here is not just about hosting events; it is about shaping how a city is perceived, experienced, and remembered.
